Consider these server and managed system software requirements before you install the IBM® Hardware Management Pack for Microsoft® System Center Operations Manager 2007, Version 2.0.
You can install IBM Hardware Management Pack, V2.0 on IBM System x™ and other systems running Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007. See Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 SP1 Supported Configurations at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309428.aspx for information about the software requirements for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007.
The managed system must be capable of running one of the supported versions of IBM Director, which has specific Windows operating system requirements. Use the following table to find supported Windows operating systems for your version of IBM Director.

This Intelligent Platform Messaging Interface (IPMI) device driver was originally developed by OSA Technologies, Inc. and is now owned by the Avocent Corporation.
Management of the service processor uses the Common Information Model (CIM) standard that requires not only the IBM Director component, but also a device driver and possibly a shared library to access the device driver.
The Avocent IPMI device driver is used to communicate with the IPMI baseboard management controller on some System x systems for all supported Windows operating systems except for Windows Server 2008. You can download the driver from the IBM support Web site at http://www.ibm.com/support/us and use the Windows Add or Remove Programs function to install the driver.
The IBM IPMI Mapping Layer is used to translate IBM Director "generic" requests into driver-specific requests for different IPMI drivers.
Download this driver from the IBM support Web site at http://www.ibm.com/support/us.
The IPMI device driver is an optional feature in Windows Server 2003. You can use the Windows Add or Remove Programs function to install the device driver. Windows Server 2008 automatically installs the driver on a server. When the Microsoft Operations Manager 2007 server provides support for Windows Server 2008, the Operations Manager will be able to use the driver.
The Remote Supervisor Adapter II (RSA II) daemon is supported on some 32-bit and 64-bit Windows operating systems for the interface to the RSA card. The daemon also prevents driver communication from interfering with IBM Director.
See the IBM ServerProven® System Management Upgrades page at http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/xseries/upgrades/smmatrix.html for compatibility information.
